33rd Annual GMAA Archie Post Five Miler

Burlington, VT, September 16, 2000

The forecast of rain showers thankfully didn't pan out and the 61 runners enjoyed cloudy skies, temperatures in the low 50s and a 10mph west wind. Runners got to test out the new running trail along Spear Street and the golf course and gave it a thumbs up.

It was a fast start with Binney Mitchell leading Joe McNamara at mile 1 in 4:53 and 5:04 respectively. Brooke Mabe led the women at mile 1 in 5:35. Joe passed Binney and mile 4 and pulled ahead by 19 seconds to win in 26:55. Brooke went on to win the women's race by 3:38 in 30:39 (5th overall).

We had special guests this year! Two of Archie Post's daughters and several great-grandchildren were at the race to watch Archie's grandchildren Kim and Jeff Stevens run the memorial race.
