On September 15, 2001, the City of Lakeside Park hosted the Second Annual 5K Run/Walk for Hospice in memory of Mary Steggman. The event started at 8:00 a.m. at the Lakeside Presbyterian Church and the course covered various scenic streets within the community.

Kit Andrews from Channel 12 was the Master of Ceremonies. In spite of the national tragedy, more than 100 participants turned out to support this worthwhile cause.

On behalf of the City of Lakeside Park, we'd like to thank those that participated in this benefit. Our community showed their support through volunteering, sponsoring, and participating in the Run/Walk. We also showed our support for the numerous relief efforts going on nationally for those affected in New York by donating the remaining shirts and water to the American Red Cross.

Thank you for helping to make the 2nd Annual Lakeside Park 5K Run/Walk for Hospice so successful. We look forward to repeating this benefit for many years to come.
