Are You Nuts? Trail Running Series - 8K

On Saturday, November 10, 2001 the very first Are You Nuts? Trail Race at Lake Sammamish State Park was held. The clear and sunny skies made it a perfect day for racing. Participants lined up at the start not knowing exactly what to expect - some were quite nervous as they had never run a trail race before. But it was all smiles as they crossed the finish line of the slightly less than 8k course.

Thanks to Red Bull for providing the "pre-race pep", and Talking Rain for re-hydrating the participants at the finish. Also, thanks to Clif Bar, Performance Bikes, and Isis Sportswear for Women.

There were two categories: male and female. The top three in each category received prizes. The first place prizes of $100 went to David Martin and Amy Chamberlain. The second place prizes of $50 went to Ryan Ervin and Erin Kelley. The third place prizes of a free Are You Nuts? race entry went to Machot Lat and Gillian Woodward. Also, a coolmax running shirt from Isis Sportswear for Women was awarded to the participant who travelled the farthest for the race, which was Amy Chamberlain from San Fransisco, CA.
