Maine USATF to hold Cross-Country Championships at University of Maine, Augusta
The Maine Association of USATF will host it's 2003 State Cross-Country Championships
this Saturday (15 Nov. 2003) at the University of Maine, Augusta. This meet serves as the Region 1
Qualifier for 18 and under and the championship meet for the Open and Master age
divisions. The top 20 individuals and top 3 teams in each 18 and under age division
qualify for the Region 1 Championships. Registration begins at 8:30 am in the
Sports Complex of UMA (part of the Augusta Civic Center). The Open/Masters races
will begin at 9:00 am, men running 8K and women running 5K.
The first Junior Olympic race will be held at 10:45 am beginning with the Bantam
(10 and under) girls, followed by the boys. Age divisions are by 2 year intervals
and age division is determined by year of birth.
Region 1 Championship will be held on November 23, Van Corland Park, NY.
Transportation by bus for athletes is being arranged by Maine USATF. Qualifying
athletes may sign up for transportation at the meet on Saturday. National Championship
will be held on December 13 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The top 20 individuals and
top 3 teams in the Regional meet will qualify for the National Championships.
Entry fee is $4 and USATF membership is required. USATF membership is available at
the meet and will be good for all of 2004! Complete details concerning race times
