Carpenter Wins for the 6th Time

Five-time Pikes Peak Ascent winner Matt Carpenter of Colorado Springs, Colorado won for the sixth time this past Saturday in a time of 2:10:43. Carpenter's time was well short of his 4-year-old course record of 2:01:06. Martin Rodriguez of Mexico, who stayed with Carpenter through 10 miles, finished second in 2:20:38. Placing third and fourth were Jeremy Wright of Wyoming in 2:23:03 and Andy Ames of Colorado in 2:25:25.

First-time Pikes Peak Ascent competitor Kirsten Ames of Steamboat Springs, Colorado placed 13th overall and topped the women's division with a time of 2:46:43, well ahead of Wendy Harris of Colorado who was second in 3:03:06. Finishing third was another Colorado resident, Cindy O'Neill who completed the 13.32-mile course in 3:04:12.
