With near-perfect race conditions and under a rising full moon, the race
series ended with a bang, as several new course and age group records were
established while the largest field to date turned out to compete.
Kevin McCaffrey blazed the first mile in 5:10 and never looked back
(so we hear), winning by a 24-second margin in a course record time of 16:04.
Peter Pazik, always the bridesmaid, finished second for the third time, in
a time of 16:30 also topping the old course record of 16:52. Former course
record holder, Bill Thramann, rounded out the top three.
Kate Petricone won the women's race and in the process lowered her own course
record by 24 seconds to 18:44. Eva Van Stratum was second in 25:53.
Other finishers of notes:
Tom Geer, 17, 4th overall and lowered the 18-under course record to 17:16.
Max Ward, 10, smoked the course with an impressive time of 22:08!
Thanks to all for coming and for all your kind feedback on the course and on
the race. We look forward to seeing you next summer and at future HTC events.
