The 15th Annual Popcorn Classic was held this past Saturday. The 5K
Run/Walk and Kid's Fun Run is held annually in conjunction with Cousin
Willie's Harrison County Popcorn Festival. There were over 200 participants
in this year's events with the youngest participant in the 5K race being
1-year old Andrew Robertson from Crandall. Of course he had a little help
with his state-of-the-art racing stroller which was motored by his dad, Pat
Robertson.
For the second year in a row tops honors in the Men's Division went to
Rich McCurdy of Louisville, KY with a time of 15:25. The Women's Division
was won by "The Queen of the Classic" Earlene Preher with a time of 21:31.
Earlene has won this competition more times than any other female participant
in the history of the race. Second place in the Men's Division went to Brad
Dunlevy of Cold Springs, KY with a time of 16:29 and in the Women's Division
to Laura Tichenor of Corydon with a time of 22:10.
